Route description
Interstate 295 serves as a bypass route around Providence for thru traffic between Boston & New York via I-95.
The Blackstone River Visitor Center and Service Plaza is located between exits 9 and 10 at MP 20 on I-295 northbound. An abandoned rest area is located on the southbound side, opposite the new Rest Area/Visitor Center at Mile Marker 20. The state is renovating and will re-open it in the near future to have facilities similar to that on the NB side.
Weigh stations are located both northbound and southbound at Mile Marker 19 between exits 9 and 10, although they are barely used.
